Why and how should you showcase Projects section on your LinkedIn profile?

Again it’s time to share some tips about making the most out of your LinkedIn profile.

This month we will have a look at the Projects section. Should you add this to your profile? What to showcase there?

So let’s start with the question “why”. Why should you add projects on your profile?

This is an opportunity to show your experience in a more detailed way — where have you contributed, what projects have you led etc. It also helps to showcase your teamwork skills when adding projects that had other contributors.

This also gives you more space for valid keywords in order to make you pop up in the search results. Last but not least, it moves you closer to a fully completed LinkedIn profile.

Similarly to the volunteer work section we talked about last month, if your projects section is empty, this is not shown on your profile and you need to add it. For this find the “Add profile section” button on the top of your profile.

Once you have the section, then it is time to fill it in and we reach the second question — what to showcase in your projects section?

Here are some ideas:

  • events you have organized;

  • outstanding projects that you have led or had an important role in;

  • social media groups and pages that you have launched and are managing or contributing to;

  • newsletters contributions;

  • blogging or contribution to someones else's blog;

  • you could even add your portfolio.

These are just a few ideas. You can activate your creativity here based on your experience and what you have done so far.

Take action and boost your personal brand — show what is behind your experience and what you have done.

Stay tuned for all the upcoming tips.
