What is Featured section in LinkedIn and why should you use it?
Time for another LinkedIn tip. We will continue on the course of improving your LinkedIn profile. This month we will have a look at the Featured section. What is it and why should you use it?
Featured section is an area on your LinkedIn profile where you can showcase work samples that you’re most proud of. You can think of it as a billboard. What would you like to be out there for people to see when they come to your profile?
You are able to pin there any post that you have posted on LinkedIn recently. Or you can pin a newsletter or an article that you created on LinkedIn. But you are also able to pin external materials such as links and media (documents, images etc).
First you would need to use the “Add section” button on the upper part of your profile. Remember, LinkedIn doesn’t show empty sections? This means that if you don’t have featured content just yet, then you don’t have the section visible on your profile.
When you have added the section then you are able to select what kind of content you want to pin. Try out the different opportunities — I’m sure you have plenty to share!
There is no limit to how many pins you can add to your Featured section. But the more you have them, the more it makes sense to prioritize the content added there. To do this, you simply need to click on the pencil button on the corner of your Featured section and then pick the arrows icon. This allows you to reorder the content.
